  • The deadline to submit to Cake: A Literary Journal has been extended to January 31, 2023.

Send us your Fiction, Poetry, or Art (Photo/digital accepted) for the Spring 2023 issue.

We are also now accepting submissions from the wider community, not just from students or employees at FAMU.

CaKe: A Literary Journal
CaKe: A Journal of Art and Poetry was founded in 2006 by Kristine Snodgrass and some of her creative writing students as a way to showcase the writing talent of the students at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University alongside more seasoned writers, such as Amiri Baraka.

In 2021, there was a slight change in the name to
CaKe: A Literary Journal that reflects the different kinds of work included in each issue.

The journal is student-run, and many of the student editors have entered positions in publishing and editing or attained admission into various graduate programs.

Explore a diverse collection of innovative student artwork, creative writing, and poetry!
