ARTIST / WORK ELIGIBILITY
Artists over 18 years of age, residing in the continental United States are eligible
to enter. FAMU employees are ineligible to participate in this competition. Artists
may enter up to three original 2D or 3D works of art. All artwork must be original
and completed without supervision by an instructor in a class or workshop setting.
All artwork must be suitable for professional presentation. Two-dimensional works,
when displayed, cannot exceed 48” in any dimension including frame. The juror (TBA)
will select exhibited works from submitted jpegs.
No more than one prize will be awarded per individual artist. $500 is awarded to BEST OF SHOW. There are also First, Second, and Third Place cash awards. One Honorable Mention (NON-CASH AWARD) will also be acknowledged.
METHOD OF ENTRY
Artists may upload three digital images along with their electronic entry form (get
the form here: Do not send multiple views of one artwork. Each image file must be
labeled with the artist’s name, the title of the work, and the year completed. (Example:
Jane Doe - Sunset - 2020) Files must be PC compatible.
LIABILITY AGREEMENT
Artwork will be insured according to the value provided by each selected artist while
exhibited. each participating artist is responsible for insurance while their work
is in transit to and from the Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery. Concerned artists are
welcome to carry their own insurance.
PRESENTATION / CONDITIONS
All artwork must be professionally presented and “gallery-ready”. Wall-mounted work
should be ready for hanging with wire. Framed works that need protection should use
only Plexiglas.
SALES
It is optional for exhibiting artists to sell their artwork. Sales are the responsibility
of the Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery, which will retain 10% of the selling price.
For artists who opt to offer their work for sale, signing the entry form is an agreement
of those conditions.
