Scholarship Guidelines
Visual Arts students must maintain a minimum of a 3.00 average in their major professional
courses in Visual Arts AND a minimum of a 2.50 cumulative GPA overall.
Scholarship Process
1. Applicants must complete a scholarship / merit application. This application must be accompanied by letter of intent, RESUME, 2-3 letters of recommendation (ONE MUST BE BY A FULL-TIME ART FACULTY MEMBER or HS ART TEACHER, on letterhead and signed), current unofficial transcript and self-addressed stamped envelope.
2. The Scholarship Committee will arrange a conference with applicant(s).
3. Applicants must present a portfolio of at 6 - 10 images on a jump drive as a PowerPoint presentation. This work must of high quality and exhibit good skill and craftsmanship. A self-addressed stamped envelope must accompany the packet for the return of materials.
4. Students currently enrolled at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University may apply by completing all of the requirements listed above.
5. Applicants shall be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The students shall be
provided a written copy of the review. Evaluations and recommendations for retention
shall be based on the following criteria:
• Potential in the discipline
• Overall quality and demonstrated growth in work
• Cooperativeness and overall attitude
• Grade point average
Purpose
• A special fund scholarship to assist talented students who declare Visual Arts
as their major
• To reward talented students for their achievements and participation in Visual Arts
• To assist deserving students in meeting their unmet financial needs
• Student who is an incoming freshmen (FTIC), transfer student, or a currently enrolled
FAMU student.
• Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or above.
